frequently asked questions - training classes
- We believe that it’s never too young to start Basic Behavior Classes. We will accept puppies as young as 10 – 12 weeks in Puppy Kindergarten as long as they have received age appropriate vaccinations and are showing no signs of illness.
- Once your dog has successfully completed a Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Behavior class, you may apply for Beginner Agility. We use age appropriate training methods and positive reinforcement to obtain focus, teamwork and fun!
- Puppy Kindergarten is generally for younger puppies (ages 3 – 5 months). At this stage your puppy will have a limited attention span. We keep the actual training sessions short and positive, interspersed with socialization among the other puppies and people in the class.
- Basic Obedience is geared towards older puppies and dogs (5 months and up). At this age we expect more attention from our dogs, and they in turn are able to handle a more regimented hour of training. There is no dog to dog socialization in this class, but it’s not without some fun and games!
- No. It is in the best interest of all concerned to deal with aggressive dogs in a private lesson atmosphere. If you are unsure about your dog’s temperament, you may schedule a private lesson with our trainer for evaluation.
- Most of our classes run in 6 week sessions (class meeting once per week). The cost of these sessions is $125.
- If you know the date you will not be able to make class, you may let us know upon submitting your application. An allowance will be made and the total session price adjusted accordingly. Please note we must be made aware of any future absence at the time of registration!
- You may log onto the web site and check the Schedule/Calendar page. Class cancellations that are known ahead of time are posted on the Calendar. I will also post weather or emergency cancellations as they occur to the web site immediately. Of course, if you are in doubt, you may call the office to verify.
